A brand is an identifying symbol, a brand, a logo, a name or a word or a slogan that companies use to distinguish their products. To create a Brand Identity, the combination of one or more elements can be used. The legal protection of a brand is called Trademark.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BRAND

The brand is seen as the best advantage of a company. It represents its face, the recognizable logo, the slogan or the brand that the public associates with it. In fact, a company is often mentioned through its brand, and they become one. The brand of a company brings with it a monetary value in the stock market (if the company is public), which affects the currency when it goes up and down. This is why it is important to uphold the integrity of the brand.

THE CREATION OF THE BRAND

When a company decides to agree on a brand for its public image, it must first define its brand identity or how it wants it to be considered. For example, a company logo often incorporates the message, slogan or product it offers. The goal is to make the Brand memorable and appealing to the consumer. To do this, a company often consults a Design company or a Team of Designers who brings together ideas for the visual aspect of a brand, such as the logo or symbol. A successful brand accurately portrays the message or feeling that the company is trying to convey. This results in awareness of the Brand or recognition of the existence of the Brand, and of what it offers. On the other hand, an ineffective brand is often the result of communication errors.

Once a Brand has created a positive sentiment among its target audience, the Brand is said to have built a “Brand Equity”. Some examples of companies that have built a Brand Equity (in possession of well-known brands) are Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Ferrari, Apple and Facebook.
If all this is done in the right way, the result is the increase in sales not only of the specific product, but also of other products sold by the same company. A good brand gives confidence to the consumer, who after having had a good experience with the product, is more inclined to try another product of the same brand. This phenomenon is called Brand Loyalty ”.

BRANDS OVER THE HISTORY

Brands have always created products and acquired different shapes from each other. For example, the oldest and most well-known brand in general, still used today, is a herbal paste from India called Chyawanprash. During the thirteenth century, Italians began to put watermark on their paper as a brand form. The term “Brand” also refers to the unique brands burned on animal skins to distinguish the owners of the same.
